About the event
This webinar will explore quantum computing’s transformative potential in the energy sector, with a focus on accelerating the integration of renewables into the UK’s energy mix.
As classical computing approaches the limits of its capabilities in managing the demands of a modern, complex energy system, we will examine how quantum technologies could address key sectoral challenges. Topics will include how quantum algorithms can support advanced renewable energy forecasting, enhance grid stability through real-time optimisation, and improve consumption analysis for better demand-supply balance.
We will showcase cutting-edge developments in quantum research and algorithm implementation, highlighting where the most promising opportunities for growth lie and where future R&D efforts could be strategically focused.
It will also be an opportune time to discuss the evolving quantum policy landscape both domestically and Europe-wide, including the UK Government's National Quantum Strategy and upcoming new regulatory framework, and the EU's new Quantum Europe Strategy, adopted in July.
This session is part of the Foresight Webinar Series, building momentum towards The Foresight Event later this year, a flagship conference focused on clean growth, technology, and the future of the UK energy system.
