About the event

As the UK races toward a decarbonised power system by 2035, hydrogen is emerging as a critical tool for balancing renewables and replacing fossil-based generation. In this episode of the Foresight Webinar Series, we’ll explore the Hydrogen to Power 2025 report from the North West Hydrogen Alliance—an ambitious, infrastructure-ready plan to deliver up to 2.7 GW of low-carbon hydrogen power generation by 2030.

The webinar will unpack how the North West could meet over 40% of the UK’s hydrogen-to-power ambitions through a combination of converted gas plants, storage caverns, and a connected pipeline network. We’ll also examine the policy and investment decisions urgently needed to unlock these capabilities—from Capacity Market reform to a functioning Hydrogen-to-Power Business Model.

Join regional leaders, energy developers, infrastructure operators, and policy experts as we discuss:

  • How hydrogen can provide flexible, dispatchable power

  • The infrastructure and planning work already in place

  • What Government support is needed to make it real

  • What lessons can be scaled to other UK regions
