At the Foresight Event, Xometry delivered a clear message to industry leaders: scaling clean energy in the UK depends on flexible, fast, and resilient manufacturing supply chains.

Opening the conference, Ole Marx, Regional Sales Director at Xometry, drew on his experience working closely with engineering and procurement teams supporting large-scale manufacturing projects across the UK energy sector.

He highlighted that while demand for renewable energy solutions from offshore wind, hydrogen and battery storage are accelerating, manufacturers continue to face significant challenges, including long lead times, high prototyping and production costs, and persistent supply-chain bottlenecks.

Mr. Marx reinforced Xometry’s role as more than a traditional supplier, quoting a senior electric vehicle executive who described Xometry as “a true solution partner” capable of mitigating risk and significantly improving supply-chain performance in complex, specialised projects.

During the session, Xometry outlined its involvement across a wide range of UK clean energy developments, spanning offshore wind, solar power, battery energy storage, hydrogen, and EV-related infrastructure. These projects reflect a growing need for manufacturing models that can adapt quickly to fluctuating demand and tight timelines.

Xometry’s AI-driven on-demand manufacturing platform was presented as a practical solution to these challenges. From research and development through to full-scale production, the platform provides instant access to thousands of vetted manufacturing partners across the UK and Europe. Capabilities include CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, additive manufacturing, injection moulding, die casting, vacuum casting, and compression moulding, all accessible through a single digital interface.

“Delivering the energy transition at pace is not just about innovation, it’s about execution” Ole Marx, Xometry

By acting as a critical link between buyers, engineers, and a global supplier network of more than 10,000 partners, Xometry helps customers control cost, lead time, and quality. Flexible sourcing options, including manual quotations, RFQs, target price orders, and instant AI-generated quotes which allow organisations to move faster while reducing risk and waste. “Manufacturing flexibility, speed, and certainty are essential. With Xometry, even the smallest part can make a decisive difference to the success of a clean energy project.” - Ole Marx

The key takeaway from the session provided a bigger outlook on the supply chain within the sector: achieving net zero ambitions depends not only on innovation, but on manufacturing systems that can respond quickly, scale reliably, and adapt to change.
